This is a funny and nice read. I got this book from NetGalley. I decided to read it because it was about food (and I love food) and history facts (I am interested in history). I never have read a book like this before, but I really enjoyed it. This book is full of history behind certain foods, like where potatoes come from, and scientific facts, like why pepers are hot.

The book is written like a dairy, the narrator describes what he/she has for lunch and then we get a few pages with fun facts, history facts or scientific facts about 4 of the lunch ingredients. There are also some jokes, some nice stories about food, drawings etc. It is a very nice book to read and I enjoyed learning things about certains food that I didn't knew. It isn't heavy stuff, it is just a nice and light read with lots of interesting facts about food.

The only minpoint is that I've read this book on my e-reader and that means that all the drawings are in black and white and some pictures cover two pages so then I had to turn to the next page to see the rest of the picture.

To conclude a very nice and enjoyable read. I would recommend it to people who are interested in food and would like to know a bit more about the history or science behind everyday lunches.

Funny, informative, coherent, and cute. Kind of a lot of text per page for some kids, but easy to skip around in, and there are gag-filled illustrations on each page. Plus jokes, cartoons. Smallish format is easy to tote around.

Extra love to the silly illustrations. I wish I could see a tortilla in Tree pose.

We are presented with 7 days of lunch from pizza to sandwiches to black pepper and beyond. It's evaluating what you eat through science and a lot of history.

I actually really liked the history portion of it like how sandwich was named after the Earl of Sandwich. Apples originated only on the mountains of Kazakhstan. Who would have thought that? I mean apples are like a staple in the U.S. Apple pie and such...

I also realized through this that some people are just lazy like a person who was looking for black pepper found something else and was so lazy that he just named them peppers. Hot dogs were actually called dachshund dogs or something to that effect and this cartoonist didn't know how to spell dachshund so instead he out hot dogs. It's a better name but still.... you could have picked up a dictionary.

This is a very kid friendly book, informative, but in a fun way. The illustrations remind me a lot of Roald Dahl's illustrations. Sort of this haphazard drawing technique I guess. I'm sure it'll get kids wondering about where their food comes from. Maybe even busy parents can get their kids to help them in the kitchen or question more. Kids have busy and curious minds so I think this book will help indulge that curiosity.

As a lover of food and someone who has a high interest in books about the history of food, I was excited to find this little book on netgalley. As soon as I got it I started reading it immediately and finished it in a day.
With really neat little illustrations I had a lot of fun reading through The World in Your Lunch Box. It’s such a small book, at only 128 pages but it is jam packed with so many things. There are sections on the history of the food, then there are science sections. Not only that but there are jokes, comics and even some fun facts about food.
I now feel that much more educated on some of the foods I enjoy eating day to day and I had a lot of fun in the process. I laughed out loud at a lot of the jokes and definitely had a good time reading. Needless to say after finishing the book my thirst for knowledge was satisfied, my hunger for food however, was not.
Overall, I really enjoyed The World in Your Lunch Box. It’s fun, highly entertaining as well as educational. I would definitely recommend this book especially to those of a younger audience interested in learning a little more about the foods they eat. I have one warning though, do not read this book when you are hungry because your stomach will be growling the whole time.
