this was on a buzzfeed list. VERY GOOD sugar book. has that valentine’s day love actually quality where characters/stories intertwine & cross over in diff ways. i read 2/3rds on the first day reading it. yesterday!

Soap opera in book form. I needed a light in between read and I kept with it because the characters are all so self-absorbed that it is in fact a quite smart satire on the gross self-interest of today's society.

Marcy Dermansky writes the most deliciously fucked up characters. I never want to know them, but they're a delight to read about.

Sometimes I can stomach a book with entitled, privileged, snobbish characters with minuscule problems.

This was not one of those times.

The characters in this book are all so unlikeable and yet I was entertained by their dysfunction.

Did not find it very funny - laughed a couple of times. It was okay. I'd say there are better books to read.

Very Nice is full of very not nice people, containing no characters worth rooting for (besides the dog). The story is essentially non-existent, just an exploration of each character’s selfishness. While this was likely the author’s intent, I didn’t necessarily find this bird’s eye view of terrible people with money to be all that interesting and found the ending straight-up absurd. The only redeeming quality of this book for me was the network of characters, all only having one or two degrees of separation, making it easy to follow with mostly unforced connections.

not for me.
Not sure if it was the writing or the narration, but after an hour of listening, I found all these characters grating. I couldn't spend time with them.
