this is my ex girlfriend’s favorite book so naturally i had to read it. so so enjoyable, i haven’t finished a book in like at least a year so this was a good experience

a beautiful book about first real love + the endurance of it through change. patricia highsmith was a terrible racist but this book is solid + very tenderly written

the main conflict in the later part of the book is homo/lesbophobia. there's no physical violence or slurs as a result thought it does negatively affect the lives and it is mentioned that it's because of the characters sexualities
