This series was already over in volume 5. I can think of no reason this volume was even written except for money. It fabricated a superfluous "origin" story that isn't really an origin of the story told in the previous volumes. It celebrates a character that is almost non-existent in vol. 1-5 and has no effect on that story whatsoever. Moreover, it suffers from the same poor illustration quality as the others in this series. I'm glad it's over.

This was very different from the series, and I mean different in a good way. It showed the folly of humanity and its gods in the face of threats like the Elder and Outer Gods. Loved the ending.

Finally got to read the final Fall of Cthulhu collection. It takes place eons before the other 5 volumes, focusing on Nyarlathotep and Atlantis. Despite the changeup, it's quite good. I don't know if I liked it as much as the others, but I liked it very much in a different way. It makes a good Lovecraftian standalone...which I'm glad of because I got to it about 6 months after I read the others.
