I really enjoyed this one! It was a really fun and entertaining book. My book has many page markers in it for all the spots I enjoyed. While I found Aru to be a little immature at times, I feel like it was right for her personality to have those times to act silly. I mean she is only 12. I definitely was able to see her character grow throughout the book and I loved that!
I have to say my favorite character is Mini. I related to her so much, especially when it was with her love of books.
I absolutely love how Chokshi had a strong emphasis on girl power throughout the book. I loved when Mini and Aru would correct people when they said heroes to heroines. I'm so excited for young readers to read this so they can feel just as powerful as Aru and Mini.
I can't wait to see what is in store in the next books!

i thought this was really cute! the art style was beautiful, and after reading this, i'm excited to continue on with the series. i loved learning more about hindu mythology, and honestly i might go back and read the actual first novel! this was a really cute middle-grade :)

I really wanted to like this book. I love the Indian gods and goddesses, I was stoked for this.
This book was so slow and Aru was such a bratty, unlikable kid. I never felt a fondness for Aru or any of these characters they seemed shallow in character formation and personalities.

Enjoyable read! It’s sweet and drops so many popular geek culture references. It’s a little rough around the edges, but I read a borrowed ARC, so maybe that had something to do with it. I look forward to where this series goes; I have a feeling I will like the sequel even more. Anyone else low-key stressed that Aru was in her PJs the whole time? (I would have tripped over myself, and I wouldn't have wanted to meet so many new beings in my personal PJs!) I'm glad it didn't slow her down, but I was rooting for her to speak up if she wanted to stop off in the clothes department at the Night Bazaar!

Fans of the Percy Jackson series will definitely want to pick this one up! There is a reason why Rick Riordan is supporting this with his publisher! Lots of nuances to his series- you have the young heroes, the humor, the quest to save the world. However, Roshani Chokshi has taken it a different direction by creating an imaginative world based on Hindu mythology.
