I enjoyed this one so much more than Volume 1. There was a magical tournament and I really appreciated the visual details. I feel more drawn to Maxim as a character than before and this volume left on an intriguing cliffhanger! The Shades of Magic universe never ceases to amaze me.

This was even better than the 1st one! I need the next one, but it's not out yet! This would really be 5 stars, but I still don't like the art style... And when it comes to craphic novels, the art is part of the book, and needs to be part of the raring too.

Eye patches are totally suspicious.

Lots more action on this one, but I loved the fast pacing, especially on the Night of Knives!

3.5....It is interesting to see Maxim younger... wonder if it will change anything when I reread the trilogy
