Après l'article peu élogieux qu'elle a écrit dans le journal de l'université sur l'équipe de football, Pénélope n'est pas franchement appréciée sur le campus. La jeune femme, un peu naïve, se retrouve au centre d'un pari lancé par l'équipe de football qui doit être réalisé par Ryker, le quarterback. Elle n'apprécie pas d'être l'objet d'un challenge stupide et décide de ne plus s'approcher des sportifs.
C'est une romance toute mignonne, sans prise de tête qui se lit rapidement. Pénélope est une jeune femme un brin perdue et dans la lune. Ryker croit la détester mais lorsqu'il apprend à la connaître, il se rend compte qu'il est attiré par cette boule d'énergie un peu évaporée. J'ai aimé les références pop culture et l'imagination de Pénélope qui souhaite devenir auteure de romance. Ryker a des difficultés dans avec son équipe de football américain depuis “l'affaire” du tome 1. De son côté Pénélope doit trouver sa place dans sa nouvelle famille. On ne croise pas beaucoup les héros du premier tome donc les personnages de cet opus sont vraiment mis en avant. Les personnages secondaires apportent un vrai plus à l'histoire et il me tarde de découvrir le prochain tome avec Charisma (la meilleure amie de Pénélope) et Blaze (un joueur de l'équipe).

This was an incredible read. The sequel to I Dare You focuses on Maverick’s best friend and teammate, Ryker and his love interest, Penelope. It all started with a bet, then turned into a friendship when he tries to help her get the attention of her crush, Connor. Then it develops into a romance that is filled with drama. The story was well-written and sweet. I love how Penelope loves to write and wants to be a romance author. I love Ryker and how he smart he is. He may sometimes act like an ass, but he has his moments. The ending was really sweet. I am glad Ryker got a happily ever after with Penelope.I wonder if there is going to be a follow up to both Maverick and Ryker’s stories. I would love that. Overall, an amazing read.

I think I have decided I am trash for Ilsa Madden-Mills writing. I haven't come across a single male lead in her books that I haven't decided is perfection. (I may have a type though).
Ryker Voss is a growly alpha male who thinks he's hot stuff. As the team quarterback he can have any girl he wants (so says he). He set his sights on Penelope and only get more interesting from there.
"Do I make you speechless, Penelope?"
Penelope is a quirky nerd who is basically drop dead. lol But really, she is adorable and so fresh that it is more entertaining to watch her struggle with her attraction to Ryker than anything else. Their chemistry is explosive and his secrets, they're worse.
The steam in this book alone is worth the read- but the characters and their romance, they are the soul. You want to root for Ryker at the same time you want to punch him in the face. The HEA is earned the hard way and every second of the ride is spun in innuendo and sarcasm.

If you love a good sports romance, read this. Like now.

Leer éste libro fue una experiencia bastante buena, la historia de Ryker y Penelope parecía a simple vista una más en la que el atleta finge salir con la chica buena para ayudarla con la persona de la que esta enamorada a cambio de motivos ocultos que pueden ser destructivos para ambos una vez que él se enamore de ella, sin embargo, no es así como se desarrolla la historia.
Me gusta que desde el principio ambos personajes ya estén en el radar del otro, en este caso, Penelope no tiene en un concepto nada bueno a Ryker, pero desde el incio sabemos que él esta un poco interesado en ella, y esta fue una de mis cosas favoritas, ya que, aunque el es un poco torpe para expresar lo que siente de una manera adecuada, fue muy fácil como lectora darme cuenta lo que el sentía. Además, él me parece una persona bastante tierna, ya sabemos que es un buen amigo también, siempre intenta apoyar a Penelope cuando ella se siente mal y es muy divertido leer lo celoso que se pone del primer interés amorosa de ella.
“I’m into you, okay? I think about you a lot. Something about that kiss…” He groans. “I think about kissing you, fucking you—then fucking you some more.”
Por su parte, Penelope es una chica un poco peculiar, quiere ser escritora y pasa mucho tiempo escribiendo escenas de sus fantasías más secretas en las que el protagonista es Ryker, todos estos momentos me parecieron un poco bizarros pero no dejan de ser divertidos. Además tiene algunos asuntos familiares sin resolver con su papá los cuales me hicieron sentir muy triste por ella, pero es muy lindo cuando se los confía a Ryker y él la apoya en esos momentos también.

En cuanto a la trama general del libro, me gusta que las cosas entre Ryker y Penelope vayan poco a poco, creo que ambos hacen un buen trabajo siendo amigables el uno con la otra, también me parece interesante todo el tema de los retos en el equipo de Ryker y como eso termina afectando su relación con Penelope.
Otra de las cosas que me encantan de esta serie es la importancia que tienen los personajes secundarios en la vida de los principales, por ejemplo, Margo, que en un principio me parece muy desagradable, pero a medida que avanza el libro podemos verla como realmente es y su relación con Penelope termina funcionando. También es hermoso ver el flirteo entre Charm y Blaze, que desde ya se han robado mi corazón, esto sirve como una introducción para lo que pasará en su libro y pinta para ser muy interesante también.
En conclusión I Bet You es una excelente continuación para la serie, Ryker y Penelope son dos personajes con mucha química y una historia tierna y candente al mismo tiempo.

I adored this story. It is sweet and fun and sexy and I swooned throughout the whole read. I couldn't put it down. I love these characters. I love their banter and their chemistry and I can't wait to read more from this series and from this author. It was so much fun reading.

This book had me literally laughing out loud. The banter between Ryker and Penelope was epic. The storyline, the characters, the Twilight references, and Penelope's ideas for historical romance were perfect. The humor (pool hall mishap) and the steam was perfectly balanced as well. I now also want a talking parrot. I hate birds but I'd make an exception for Vampire Bill. My only complaint about this book was that I wanted more of a resolution with Penelope and her dad.
This book is definitely my favorite so far from this author.
