Interesting premise. Did a little too much telling and not enough showing. Interesting twist at end and brought the mood up with “epilogue.”
Moderate: Gun violence
Minor: Domestic abuse, Toxic relationship, Blood, and Vomit

First book I read this year that I absolutely loved. A lot of DNF this year because the writing on recommended books were so awful.
I saw the author talk about his first book on TikTok earlier this month and his description drew me in. So I ordered the book. Honestly one of the best murder mysteries I read. I love closed door whodunit so those always rank higher on my list.
A lot of books I read lately had characters I hated vs hateable characters. This book just wrote the hateable characters so good. They wrote the morally wrong but loveable characters so good. I think midway through, you could guess correctly who did it but the twist at the end (that connected oh so well) was still nice.
I would say it’s a fast paced, comfort book. A book about different people processing grief in different ways. And what closure really looks like.
