UF OMG! THAT PLOT TWIST AT THE END! DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING!

Too many hard feelings all around in this book! I want more! I'm definitely picking up the last book right away. I mean. . now.

This series is really good! I’m enjoying the characters and the plot is intresting. Reminds me of the show supernatural mixed with the show lost girl in a way.

One of the MMC’s in this book became extremely annoying. Calling the MFC shortie every 5 minutes when he not once called her that in the first book. Out of every little nickname the author could have used why tf did she use that. 🤡

Especially when the other MMC called the FMC Layla-bug. Which is cute. Shortie is not and honestly annoying and cringe as hell to read. Especially coming from the “bad boy”

The plot was a little predictable in this book. I clocked it from the very beginning. The author didn’t ease us into it so that it would less suspicious. Also didn’t like the ending of the book…. Was anticlimactic. How are you just going to end it like that 🤨

There will probably be lots of spoilers in this review. I don't think I'll be able to help myself because I'm so freaking mindblown! Please do not read this review if you haven't read this book. I would hate to spoil someone who hasn't read it. You will miss out of the shock factors and the just utter crazy mind blowing effects this book will have on you.

First off, whyyyyy did I not know that the third book in this trilogy wasn't out yet before I picked it up! I would have waited to read it.

White Hot Kiss blew me away. I loved the first 2 books in Lux so much that I was sure that this trilogy couldn't be better. How wrong was I! Not only did I fall in love with White Hot Kiss, but Stone Cold Touch was even better!

I don't typically care much for love triangles. I don't hate them, don't love them. I just don't care either way. But Mrs. Armentrout has twisted this crazy love triangle into this pile of amazingness, I still have no clue who I would pick. I was torn in the first book, totally #teamzayne in the first half of this one, and now I'm clueless because of what Roth said. After the shitty way he's treated her throughout this entire book, I never thought I'd even consider liking Roth again. And then comes the scene where he thinks she's dying:

"I love you, Layla. Do you hear me? I've loved you since the first moment I heard your voice and I will continue to love you. No matter what. I love you."

Whyyyyyyyy?!?!? Why, after I've totally been on #teamzayne for so long would you completely throw in this scene that brought tears to my eyes! He's acted like a complete asshole this entire freaking book, and then here comes that scene! Of course, he explains why he's acted that way after, but just wow. No wonder she put a poll up for the third book. If I was her, I couldn't choose either. She's literally created two perfect opposite characters that probably everyone that has read or will ever read, will fall in love with.

I think the creation of this world, the characters, and the storyline are so perfectly unique and refreshing. I get tired of reading about Angels, vampires, werewolves. How freaking cool are gargoyles!

And btw, I totally did not see the Sam thing coming. I thought the big action in the book had already happened, and then here comes the Sam twist. I've always been the type that can predict the end of books. Not exactly, but close enough that I'm never shocked when stuff happens. Everything that happened in this book shocked me. Starting with me falling hard for Zayne, to Bambi's badassery and the twist that involved her, to me being torn between the two again, to the big Sam twist.

This whole review has just been the ravings a person that still has the mindfuckedness going on, and I'm probably going to leave it this way. Simply because....this is how this book made me feel. Absolutely adored it. Huge freaking 5 stars and would rate it more if I could!

Still team Roth.

Yes, Zayne is a cinnamon roll, as Gabriela would say. But Roth is Roth!
He gives me Cardan vibes.... many male characters give me Cardan vibes, so that's not uncommon.
Also, he used a similar expression Cardan used.

But anyways, this is not Folk of the Air, it's another book.

Layla is still meh, but it is a nice reading and JLA is quickly becoming a guilty pleasure!

The plot was quite limited, but I enjoyed it anyway!

I definitely wouldn't go as far as saying this book was better than the first, White Hot Kiss, but it was pretty good and yet also frustrating. This, like the first, were light and easy to read and you get into it really fas. So seems like Roth is pretty much with Layla at this point. Obviously at the beginning of the book the two have their problems considering what happened in the last book. There was a huge sacrifice Roth had to make which ultimately Zayne swoops in, saving Layla's broken heart. There were some pretty funny moments right at the beginning when Roth came to the institution and they all had a discussion about Layla like she wasn't standing right there. Some pretty awkward things happened and I loved reading it.

So the Lilin are here and they're wild and also slowly taking over. In this book there are witches, which is cool and I liked that Armentrout incorporated that into the plot. Bambi was amazing of course as she now is on Layla practically permanently. A huge plot twist happens to one of Layla's friends and it was crazy towards the end of the book because I have no idea what Layla is going to do in the next book! As for the romance, Armentrout actually put out a post that basically said, she'll be hosting a poll while she's writing her last book of the series, Every Last Breath, for the the fans to vote who they want Layla to end up with, Roth or Zayne. That is so freaking cool as an author! I was so impressed by that and just respect her so much more now because she is literally incorporating her fan's opinions and ships into the story. It's pretty much no surprise who won but I'm not going to say for obvious spoiler reasons.

There's a funny scene, it's really not funny in the context but I found it pretty stupid that I had to laugh. While Layla went to the movie theatre, a man goes up to her that seems scarcely familiar with a water bottle of clear liquid... HMMMM LAYLA I wonder what that is. Oh wait, if an old man resembling the church guy comes up to you in public with clear liquid while saying "I can expose you" I wonder what's going to happen next. Any guesses? Yep, you bet it's holy water and can we all just remember that Layla can't actually touch it? Well any guesses as to what the guy did? Yep, threw it on her. In public. God (no pun intended) sometimes I just wanted to punch Layla and Roth and even Zayne sometimes.

Anyways, the book was great and it was pretty easy to read. Again, for just a light read and sometimes humorous, this was pretty good. I had a lot of fun reading this and we end it on a high-note of sorts, at least for me.
