Enjoyed this run for the most part but these issues suffer a lot from the grim-dark aesthetics of the early 2010s - there's a moment in here that reminds me of the infamous Ultimate 3 Marvel series, and I haven't been able to make it leave my mind since. Perhaps an achievement for a horror book, for the flagship Superhero book of the DC universe, it's excessive. This volume was wayyyyyy too edgy and dark for its own good.

It's always entertaining when the Justice League's big guns are shelved and we get to see the rest of the DC Universe step into the spotlight, however I'm not a big fan of the Metal men and this book is mostly a way to present the new 52 metal men to the reader. On the other hand the focus on Cyborg was nice and I do like his redesign, much closer to the old Teen Titans design.

I know I said I wasn't going to read another volume, but well, fuck it. The crime syndicate looked just too good to ignore. Best volume till now, imo. (I didn't read Forever Evil and Trinity War)

Justice League continues to be one of the strongest series in the New 52 lineup. As a direct tie-in to Forever Evil, it is best paired with that trade collection. We get a redesign of Cyborg, and his defeat of Grid. We get the New 52 iteration of the Metal Men, which instantly had me wishing for their own standalone series, and we see the fallout of Forever Evil, with the public opinion of the League in shambles, while villains like Lex Luthor are hailed as heroes. Lex now knows Bruce's identity, has supplied the league with a new watchtower, and inserted Shazam into the league.

The last two chapters cemented it at a 3.5 rather than 3 or lower. The first four chapters weren't all that interesting to me, but I really enjoyed Cyborg and the metal men in the last two. Even so, I really wish this was a side series or something, rather than the Justice League title, since none of the League besides Cyborg really make an appearance; it'd be great to see the metal men and Cyborg have their own series or miniseries, but for the Justice League title, I kinda just wanted the League.

This volume didn't add much to what was already happening in Forever Evil. There was some good-ish background information of the Crime Syndicate, but some of it left me with more questions than it actually answered. Mostly, how did Lois Lane become Superwoman? If Superwoman is supposed to be the evil Wonder Woman, how did Wonder Woman turn from Dianna to Lois Lane? Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
I'm also not invested enough to care about the Metal Men, so that part dragged for me and didn't contribute to the main action.
Overall, it feels like the Justice League series has been taken over by the cross over issues like Trinity War and Forever Evil. These didn't serve a purpose.

Starts out really interestingly, then falls apart. I am assuming I need to read the whole crossover to get all of this nonsense? Boo.

What in the world was this. All the sudden there were bad mirrors of our superheroes that were villains and evil. I really like Geoff Johns and he does great stuff, but this was a mess. It came out of nowhere and didn't relate to the 4th volume in any way. This might as well been a whole different story from the rest. I don't understand. Plus, our favorite heroes on in this one and it's really not a whole lot of fun without them.
The art is good with lots of energy in the pages. We don't figure out what's going on even a little until the very end and then cliff hanger.
