Reread Sept. 2021 ~

Still love it. This series is more of a comfort read for me and it’s not the best piece of fiction, but it’s fun and was a fun read for Labor Day weekend.

~~~~~
let me start out with: I think this book gets much harsher reviews than deserved.
Are there problematic tendencies and problematic subplots throughout this book? Definitely. HOWEVER, all of Elle Kenned's Off-Campus and Briar U books have problematic tendencies. None of these things have ever bothered me while reading them, because the characters are in COLLEGE. College romances have a lot of problems, and I think EK does a great job at talking about a lot of issues that college students experience.
Did I LOVE the portrayal of Briar U's first plus sized heroine? No. But I didn't HATE it. As a plus sized girl myself, I found Taylor refreshing because she faces with insecurities like most girls in college (not even just plus sized girls!!!). Not every plus sized girl you meet is confident in herself, and I think this made Taylor more realistic as a character. Her flaws made her normal.
Conor's interest in Taylor was so stinkin' sweet. Conor is one of my favorite Briar U boy's, and from other reviews I have read, I'm not the only one who feels this way. I loved that he loved Taylor for who she is and was always so sweet with her about her insecurities. I also love that Taylor didn't just decide to love her body because a cute boy told her she was pretty. (That's NOT realistic!!)
This wasn't my FAVORITE book from Off-Campus/Briar U (nothing will ever compete with The Deal or the Play for me), but everything about this book fits the mold for this series.
If you don't like crude humor from college boys, don't read any of the Briar U or Off-Campus books. The books can be problematic, but they also are very sex-positive and all of the characters have are genuinely likable despite some of their problematic tendencies.
If you're looking for a book that has absolutely no problems and handles every single issue with 100% accuracy, don't read this series. If you're looking for books that deal with real college issues and represent different types of college relationships for all of their best parts and flaws, give this a go.
The Dare fits with this series perfectly, and I enjoyed it just as much as I enjoyed the rest of this series. If you have read all of EK's other Off-Campus and Briar U books, but you've been holding out on this one because of the negative reviews, READ IT. If you enjoyed the other books in this series, I can't see you disliking this one. It might not be your FAVORITE, but it's a fun, easy read with one of the sweetest heroes in the entire series.
This one wasn’t my favorite. The MC’s fell kind of flat for me, and the subplots were really boring and uncreative. The back and forth and the raging insecurity from them both just wasn’t appealing.
Admito que já tinha saudades desta saga e foi bom voltar.
"The Dare" é o quarto e último livro da saga Briar U e conta-nos a história de Connor e Taylor. Numa festa, Taylor é desafiada a seduzir Connor, o jogador da equipa e hóquei. Taylor odeia ser o centro das atenções e definitivamente odeia este tipo de joguinhos. Então, para manter a sua reputação e não deixar que as suas colegas a humilhem, vai ter com Connor e pede-lhe um favor: se ele fingir que aconteceu alguma coisa entre eles, ela fica a dever-lhe uma. Connor concorda e ambos passam a noite a conhecerem-se melhor, até que decidem inventar um falso namoro.
Adoro a trope de fake dating e este livro foi tão bom. Adorei as personagens, apaixonei-me pelo Connor e adorei a evolução da Taylor. A única parte negativa é que houve alguns problemas de comunicação entre os dois e odeio isso. Mas nesse ponto o "The Goal" e "The Chase" foram bem piores. Aqui houve alguma falta de comunicação, mas não tanta, por isso acabei por adorar o livro na mesma.
Tenho pena de ter acabado esta saga, mas por outro lado, ainda tenho o livro "The Legacy" (5° livro de Off Campus) para ler.
Recomendo muito esta saga!!
