I only picked this up because 1. the cover looked good and 2. because I really love re-telling's of the Hades and Persephone myth. But this... this was crap. Ugh I can't believe there will be another one.
I've never read anything by Meg Cabot before because frankly nothing she has written seems that good. But after reading this, I definitely will not read any of her work ever. Yikes.

I would give this a 3.5 if i could. This book has an interesting premise and am interested to see where it goes. The main character, pierce, is someone who seems lost through the beginningof the story. As we learn more of the back story things get a bit clearer and she starts to become more engaged in the things going on around her.

I wish wehad been able to learn more about John's story. Perhaps that will come in the next book but not getting to learn about him and thedetails regarding coffin night (as they apparently relate directly to him) was a bit frustrating.

I will definitely read the next book but if you don't like stories that aren't resolved, hold off until this is complete. There are a lot of unanswered questions from book 1.

The character was okay but the romance was not realistic enough and too far fetched even in a fiction novel. The idea for the story was nice but it needs a lot more work. I'm honestly not sweating to read the other two novels in the trilogy and probably will not.

This was a weird one for me. I think the insta-love was very annoying, even though the main two characters have “known” each other for 2+ years. It felt very insta-lovey. I have always enjoyed Meg Cabot’s Princess Diaries Series, so I wanted to read something else by her. I think I will continue on with the series because I liked the way it ended, and I’m curious about what is going to happen. This was a quick read I read most of it in a few hours.

An interesting spin on the Persephone/Hades myth. A whole lot of insta love and weird plot lines though. Overall just kind of “eh” and lackluster

What to say? This is actually my first Meg Cabot book, and I wanted to love it more than I did. It sounded interesting and I have always been interested in the Hades/Persephone myth. But I don't feel like this book stands up by itself, which is odd for a first book in a trilogy. Usually the first book has some story arc and resolution, leaving a greater issue to be resolved over the rest of the series. This book was all setup and background, with no real plot of its own. That being said, I was intrigued enough to jump right into the second book so we'll see. Oh and there were a lot of abrupt paragraph breaks I found distracting.

It was okay...... My friend gave it to me as a gift, no need to tell her it was a horrible idea.
The characters just didn't appeal to me in any way. I cannot explain it because I am a horrible reviewer. Go read a good review on this so you can understand.
-Sigh- And now I have to go and finish this series.....
