Couldn’t put it down
I read this book every moment I possibly could. It was so hard to put down. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quick read

It was good but I feel like it was a bit misleading. When a book has "haunting" in the title I assume it's going to be a bit more sinister plus the cover looks a little dark but that is definitely not the case (one of those "don't judge a book by it's cover" moments). This is more of a romance/mystery. I also felt like the ending was lacking. It seemed so abrupt.
But I still enjoyed it. :)

Audio book well performed. This author is creative. I like the ghost story mystery, but this was a slog to get through. The author must read a lot of romance novels and be obsessed with Hallmark movies. The story comes off as a cheesy, silly, no substance romance. It surprises me that a female author would write female characters that are so weak and teenage like. I might try another one of her books, but need to do more research on it first.

✨audiobook review✨
I picked this book up while traveling to Bayfield, WI. There are a lot of similarities between Warton - where the book is set - and Bayfield. They are cute, quaint towns filled with seasonal visitors on the shore of Lake Superior. I always love supporting local authors and being able to visualize the setting.
This book is quite the genre-bender. It's emotional, romantic, and a bit creepy. Warton seems to be a mecca for folks who have experienced loss in some capacity. Brynn Wilder arrives for the summer and meets new friends, a potential romantic interest, and a woman who defies logic.
I'm glad I read reviews prior to picking this up because the title and cover can be slightly deceiving. It is not a scary book filled with thrills and jump scares. It is a slower burn that deals with grief, love, and the unknown. Rest assured, there was at least one "what?!" from me, so there are some unexpected happenings.
I think this book is great for people who enjoy reading about:
- found family and community
- mild supernatural elements
- love that lasts lifetimes
⭐️RATING⭐️: I liked this book. I think people who dabble in unsettling stories but aren't fans of thrillers may enjoy this as a creepy season book! For seasoned thriller lovers, it may be too tame but could also serve as a nice palate cleanser if you're into romance. (3-3.5⭐️)
