I wanted to like this book more but I feel like it's only 2.5 stars out of 5 for me. It's the story of a family, parents and 4 kids, but more like it's about 2 women, June and her daughter Nina, who have to deal with a lot of the same problems. Other siblings are more scatched out than in the flash. The thing about Jay is that he's a vulnerable jock, the thing about Hud is that he's... a good guy? Most of the time? Honestly I feel like we know almost nothing about Hud at the end. And the thing about Kit is that she's a tomboy, unlike her mother and sister. And that's kind of it. I wish we get more character development instead of descriptions of random (imaginary) celebs who came to the party.
Also some big questions are left unanswered, not gonna get spoilery but there were several times one I wanted to interrupt the flow of the book and ask chaarcters or the author herself: "But what about this thing you don't talk about anymore?"
But I suppose it's a good beach read, it has celebrity life scoops, sex, drugs, but also it's heartfelt. It should work for many. It could've worked for me as well, and I wanted it to, but felt like it was lacking in the character department.

Taylor Jenkins Reid nu încetează să mă uimească, mi se părea greu să mă mai surprindă după The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo și Daisy Jones and The Six. But no, she did it again. Not in your face, subtle, but with a precise purpose.

The ending was disappointing tbh but loved the nook as a whole!
