This book was a surprise: I didn't think it would be this creative. I find it harder and harder to find original and innovative books in the fantasy genre. Thankfully, this one did the trick.
The world was really complex but still well built; the fragmented reality really worked for me. Even though I liked most of the characters, I didn't connect much with them. Besides that, this book is really good.

I really dug ephemera, where the landscape itself is a character. Anne Bishop creates wonderful, creative worlds with nifty magical applications.

Meh. I really like her Others series, but reading this makes me wonder if she really just repackages all her characters.

I was hoping for a gritty romance set in the truly dark "Den of Iniquity". I mean, why else would you have a set up with an incubus and a naive woman? That's wasn't this story at all, and it remained very tame throughout. It was an interesting premise, with a world of landscapes bridged together (mostly) emotions, but strangely enough, I didn't feel much of anything towards any characters.
I won't be reading the rest of the series, but enjoyed this first novel enough to give it a 3/5.

Sebastian is an incubus who lives in the aptly named Den of Inquity, which is located in the landscapes of Ephemera. I really enjoyed this book about Sebastian and his love interest Linnea. I did find it amusing that there was little sex in a book about an Incubus.
