I had several "ohhhh" moments while reading this book. I'd recommend this book to just about everyone.

My only real complaints were that some of the support verses seemed... manipulated(?) to fit the examples the authors were using. And it was a tiny bit long/bloated.

I listened to the audiobook while following along and taking notes on kindle.

The concepts in this book and how they explain the importance/effects of boundaries deserves 5 stars. I think it’s very important for everyone to learn about boundaries- not just how to set their own but also how to respect the boundaries of others. And this book can help with that.

On the other hand, I wish they presented more research to back up their ideas. I was able to recognize the value of the authors’ ideas because I’ve read other books on this subject. But without my background knowledge I would have dismissed their arguments because they are not presented with research- but through examples from the Bible. And even though the concepts are sound, using the Bible to back up your argument is going to limit the audience....which is a shame because there are a lot of valuable lessons in this book.

A must read for anyone that wants to further their knowledge on the importance of boundaries.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The cover (and the blurb on the back) would never have "hooked" me enough to buy this, but my oldest sister gave this to me as a gift, and yup, you really can't judge a book by its cover... At least not this time.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book was interesting. It talked about how a lot of your boundaries are set from things that happened to you or that you learned in your childhood &how you carry them in different ways through adulthood.

* I didn’t realize it before starting but this book is extremely religion based. Not that there’s anything wrong with that but if you don’t have beliefs in the church then this might be too much for you.

* I knew quite a few things they went over &also learn a lot &gave me another perspective on what boundaries look like in different scenarios.

* It talked a lot about how you are only responsible for your own feelings. Even if people don’t like the boundaries you set, that’s not your problem or your burden to carry. I feel like that was really important for me to hear. Yes I knew that but they talked about ways to better handle that.

* Overall it was a fine read. It was enlightening or relatable for religious based beliefs.

Themes:
* Religion
* Self-Improvement
* Setting healthy boundaries

I came across this book because I asked ChatGPT to recommend some books about boundaries. ChatGPT neglected to mention that this is written by a Christian, for Christians. The non-Christian reader's ability to gain something helpful from this book really depends on how much one minds Christian references (which is a lot). Despite that, I did find this book very useful. Somehow the things that it was speaking about were exactly what I had been pondering over.

All in all, it's a very practical book about boundaries, very easy to understand, lots of examples and explanations about the different types of boundaries, the various nuances, etc. Especially helpful for those who are conditioned to think giving mindlessly = caring, and not giving = heartless. It's a bit like a Boundary 101 explainer and guidebook.

I'll be coming back to this book for years to come. Don't know how to put words into this review...now to actually apply these things...
