All-Star Batman #5 - 3.5 out of 5 stars

All - Star Batman : My Own Worst Enemy - 4 out of 5 stars

So this will be a little controversial , since I Found this a fun title , but many found it just average and mostly a OK title . But that's the beauty of individuality , to each his own .

Book Succinct :

Batman is taking a journey with Harvey Dent in a hope to get a cure to fix the two-face problem , But Two -face has done something bad to the whole Gotham city and he holds secrets for all of Gotham and ergo he is blackmailing everyone to help him get out of Batman's clutches , and maybe kill Batman , and to force Batman to give in he has even set in motion events that will finally let the Whole Gotham find out Batman's true identiy

What I Liked :

The Story was simply said cramped with action as nearly every panel showed an action scene , it was reminiscinet of watching some action movie filled with action scene*. The art has complimented this action packed journey very nicely and I found it stunning to watch even though I admit there will be people who don't like the art but for me it worked.

* and not the bad ones either .

Meanwhile the story itself was presented in a unique way that left a lot of question about why things were happening the way they were , with hints and story details about past event being told in a broken and stuttering manner , that really would again put people on edge but for me it was unique and entertaining.

The whole concept of Blackmail also bought a sense of surprise as some of the finest and well loved characters seemed to turn against Batman. There was also a lot of Duke involved in the story and even a side story of sorts showing one of Duke's first mission as a Batman aprentice which was well handled .

What I Didn't Like

For a action filled issue we saw Batman in a lot of troublesome situation and he got out of a very few of them being resourseful but most times it seemed that somehow Batman had a solution for all problmes in his Bat-belt which really felt ridiculous at times .

Meanwhile the realtionship between Dent and Bruce was shown in a new light but sadly that wasn't explored properly and in the end it felt like it was just something made for this story but the author simply forgot about it soon after starting the story .

Similarly while it all started in such an epic fashion (The Train Scene anyone?) the ending left me feeling a little unsatisfied with the final few fight scenes being dull in comparision to stuff shown earlier, KG Beast's issue left unsolved and the whole journey seeming pointless at the end of the story arc

Conclusion

This is a strange one , I can guarantee you would definitely find something good in this book and most certainly no one can call this book a bad one , but at the end of the day both the style of story and the art aren't going be to for everyone's liking and you may be left confused at the story or in love with it and similarly puking at art or finding it stunning . If you are into action filled stories than you would love it . Recommended with caution .
