An excellent continuation from book 1. Different but welcomed. Great character growth through plot progress and hardship.
I oddly appreciated Elecia's character. She made sense and the antagonistic attributes of her fit her personality and her place in thay world. She wasn't just there to be a pain in our protagonist's romance. (Some authors can be very lazy witht their romance hurdles and other woman tropes. It can be done badly and degradingly for all the women involced (Book 2 of Forth Wing is a great example of terrible crafting) but it was really well done here!) So pleased that the side characters have such life and dimension.
Still don't understand why we have names like Baldair and Larel and also Craig and Daniel... either they all have a twist of fantasy names or they are your openspace colleague who prattles on about his boring weekend.
Thankfully Daniel was a very good character so I can excuse his common name.
Reads so easily, I can't seem to get bored of this world! Onto book 3 already.

I do not reward weakness. I do not like the pathetic Vhalla and I want her to power through, train, and overcome. I am sad about Larel and iffy about Eletia. I am concerned about Aldrick but know he cannot be harmed by wind, like Vhalla can’t be harmed by fire (only his fire?). I’m hopeful…

Elise Kova when I get you… the way my face went pikachu meme when the title made sense. Honestly this is so fun and angsty it’s scratching an itch I didn’t realize I had.
