I may be biased as someone who is afflicted with similar conditions as the main character (cleft-affected and hard of hearing), it was one of the most accurate representations of being young and growing up with a facial difference. The good, the bad, and the ugly involved with it.

While sometimes I felt the main cast acted a bit “too young” for their age, it also could be me just interpreting children wrong as it’s been a while since I was in 5th grade myself.

Rep: Disabled kid main character

I felt I could really connect to the characters particularly because it was an audiobook. I enjoyed the multiple POV and going over the same situation again with a different person. The ending was fairly predictable but also satisfying. Generally a feel good book but I did also cry at one point.
