I think I have outgrown these books. The Fowl Twins books seem aimed at a younger audience than the original Artemis Fowl series. The humour and wit are still there, but they don't suck me in like the predecessors have.
That said, the world is still fun to visit. These books likely still have great appeal to the younger readers out there.

I received an eARC courtesy of Disney Publishing Worldwide/Disney-Hyperion & NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
I must admit that I have not read book 1 in this new Fowl series, & I do try never to jump into a series in the midst of things. That being said, I do feel like the prologue did a pretty good recap/setup of, I imagine, most of what a reader would need to know.
Moving beyond that, my initial impressions of this book are that the language seems a bit above the target range of 9-11 year old kids. Something about the overly wordy nature of the text makes this book read sluggishly. My reluctant readers, in particular, may be drawn to the plot and the cover, but I doubt they will make it to far into the story.
Ultimately, this book is just not my personal style, but I totally get the appeal.
For libraries: If you have fans of Book 1, you should definitely consider adding this your collection.

What a blast! Another amazing adventure in the Fowl World. I couldn’t get through the book fast enough! Already looking forward to the next volume.

So much fun.
Characters were better differentiated from the Artemis Fowl series this time round which was a definite improvement, but I mostly just enjoyed the fast-paced craziness as the plot hurtled on
There were a few moments that reminded me that I am not the target audience for this book (ceremonial...farting?) but the majority is eminently readable good fun.
