This is how it ends.

Miriam Black has lost most of the things she loves in life. She has also begun to truly find herself. Tired of running, Miriam sets herself on confronting the supernatural forces that have controlled her life for so long. The threads are coming together. Miriam the scavenger, Miriam the survivor, Miriam the hunter--in order to protect what she has left, Miriam will have to confront her past, her demons, and herself.

What a wild ride of a series Wendig has created. When I opened the first pages of Miriam Black's story, I had no idea where she would end up. Profane, violent, surrounded by death, and a rebel to the end--Wendig has crafted this series with immense skill, diving headlong into the darkness and then going deeper still but never giving in purely to shock value, never losing sight of beauty, humanity, or hope--no matter how faint they may be. Confronting her greatest and most personal challenge yet, Vultures features old allies and new, creating a fitting sendoff to Miriam's long and tortured journey. She remains, as ever, a rebel and a fighter. An antihero to root for. A character to remember.

Chuck Wendig is weird a.f. I know this because I have read all six of the Miriam Black books and only someone that weird could create such a masterpiece of non-stop violence, insanity, sex, more violence, and heart-stopping action. He's also a terrific writer who knows how to set the hook better than just about anyone. One cliff hanger after another, yanking the reader back and forth in time and never giving Miriam a break. I'm sad to see the series end but Wendig tied off all the threads. I'm ready and waiting for his big fat novel coming out this summer.

Loved it! Loved them all!

We have trash bag dumpster fire male characters everywhere, but very rarely do we get a trash bag dumpster fire female character. No one who knows me will be surprised to learn that I adore this character. I cheered for her when I probably shouldn’t have, and more when she deserved it. We need more Miriam Blacks in pop culture, and more diversity in our trash bag dumpster fire characters.
This has been a great six book ride, and also reassured me that there is a place
for the trash bag dumpster fire ladies living in my head, begging for their stories to be released into the wild.
Thanks, Chuck.

The end of an excellent series. Lots of very dark stuff happens (of course) and there are callbacks to previous books, but there are some interesting new characters too.

After six books Miriam Black almost feels like family - highly dyfunctional family, but family nonetheless. This is the final book and really brought everything together. I had a very emotional time with the 5th book so I was thankful to have closure from that emotional read. And if you haven't read the Miriam Black series, now would be the perfect time to start! A book series you won't regret!

I love the Miriam Black series, but was nervous about it coming to the end. It can be hard to stick the landing sometimes, especially when you have readers deeply invested in your characters. I needn't have worried. This book beautiful wraps on Miriam's story and is just as fun, heartbreaking, and foul-mouthed as all of the books that came before it. In the past, the Miriam Black books have been ones that I've shoved in to people's hands whenever I am asked for book recommendations. I am glad that I can continue to do that now, knowing how it all wraps up. I didn't even know how I wanted these books to end, but Chuck really nailed it. I will always be grateful to have this amazing, strong, foul, broken, beautiful queer character to read about.

This is an absolutely perfect ending to Miriam's story. It brings things together from the beginning of the series, it keeps the violence and gore of previous books, the humor, writing, characters, it's all on point. It's just all so good.

Notes:
Lots of great stuff about pregnancy.
Lots of cool & bizarre events per normal.
Floppy Ta Da?

I'm not sure how I feel about the way it all comes down in the end. It's either a 3.5 or 4 star book.
