I would give it 100 stars if I could. Allende had me laughing and breaking me down to pieces at the same time for 473 pages straight. To me, she's one of the most valuable contemporary authors we have. I am beyond thrilled to read more about her, and I know for certain that she will not disappoint me in any of her other works. Her humour is one of the best things I've come across.

I consider this book a great tool to empathyse with how women have been treated throughout the years, and the consequences this had. It was very informative in terms of politics as well. Everything was so well put together and linked, I cannot describe the enthusiasm with which I grabbed this book every time I had a few minutes to read.

Spoiler The ending completely destroyed me. Reading everything Alba went had me looking away from the book most of the time, but the descriptions are crucial to the main theme of the book in my opinion.
