My favorite book of all time. Reading the stories of two women of different generations and upbringings in Afghanistan, I was blown away by Hosseini’s ability to convey what it is like to be a woman. Content warnings should be taken seriously. This book is difficult and raw, but it is also the most touching and tender book I have read

i had to leave the room i was in to cry while reading this. idk if this is controversial but in some ways i preferred this over the kite runner. i think there are problematic elements in the book but it still has a captivating prose and poetic flow that is easy to get lost in

This is a heartbreaking book. The hope, disappointment, misery, frustration, fear and love felt by Mariam and Laila throughout the book is so powerful and captivating.
