Hmmm where to start. This book was hard to focus on, it sometimes had too much going on or not enough.
I struggled to get sucked into nevermoor because it seems to hop, skip and jump. When you were getting a description of something and it was finally making sense and you could imagine it, it would jump to something else. Or bits you wanted extra on were skimmed over.
I read a review that said you could tell where Townsend was setting up plots and you really could. Things would be pointed out then not followed up and that was annoying.
I will read the others but for the length of the book it didn’t have a huge amount of substance.
It also had some crazy descriptions of things that I feel like the age group for this book would not get.

I listened to this on audio with my daughters (13 and 8) and we all really enjoyed it. The plot was well developed and the fantastical elements were fun and in appropriate ways, a bit scary. The main character is an 11 yo girl but she’s not an angsts filled tween that isn’t pleasant to read about, rather exhibits kindness and bravery under dire circumstances. The girls are already asking for the next one and I just might listen along as well.

I borrowed this book from my younger sister after she said that I needed to read it. I had heard such great things about Nevermoor from so many different people, and so I knew I had to pick it up.

I actually enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. I knew it would be entertaining, but I actually fell in love with the whole story. It gave me such good vibes and made me feel a bit like a kid again, which was lovely.

I thought that the story would be very predictable (with it being aimed at younger audiences), but I actually was caught out in quite a few points in the story. I really enjoyed the whole setting (the world is just so wonderful and magical) and I especially loved the different trials.

(I also really want to stay at the Deucalion!)

I really wanted to like this one but I felt as I was reading that I’ve read this somewhere before. It was a mash up of all the middle grade fantasy books I’ve grown up to love.

„Pewne chwile i zdarzenia z przeszłości przyczepiają się do ludzi i przedmiotów, a potem tkwią przy nich latami tylko dlatego, że nie mają dokąd pójść. Z biegiem czasu część się zaciera, odrywa albo po prostu ginie, jednak niektóre pozostają na zawsze. Dotyczy to szczególnie dobrych wspomnień albo tych wyjątkowo złych."
moja nowa comfort książka…

What a joy! A magical, sophisticated, and fun children/teen fiction.
