i read some of the reviews before starting and had some level of expectation of this book….but holy cow was there a lot of piss

very unsettling, though, decay and rot in horror is one of my favorite things. 3.5 rounded up

more like a 2.5. finished this went to the kitchen and had a viscerally uncomfortable encounter with a rotten banana

I feel like I need to give this a high rating because it is unlike anything I’ve read ever. Do I think it was slightly overhyped? Yes! But that’s on me. I’ll be recommending this one to the people I think will “get it.” It’s a sweaty, stinky, slimy, drippy, steamy, dewy, moldy, mildewing, blurry, smudgy, oozing, golden shower story about sexual awakening and first love and I think Jenny Hval has such a way with words that I look forward to whatever else she writes.

We are wine, we are cheese, we are crackers.
