One of the most bizarre things I’ve read, and not in an enjoyable way. This book is heavily invested in urine.

I had an expectation coming into this that it would be weird. But I didn't expect it to be so nasty. IT worked for the story, however. The description were so vivid and just alway made my gut turn. To be honest I won't really be able to drink milk for a while, which sucks cause I love milk. The writing is the best part of the book and will drag you in the story if you can stomach the grossness of it all.

The main critique I can give it isn't really even a critique, but I think this novel just came to me at the wrong time. In this time, I've been in the mood for a genuinley horrifying book. And between literally the last books I've read, they haven't felt like something that was supposed to make me feel scared. It was either a different genre with horror elements or it just didn't work on me. With this novel, you're not going to be up in the night horrified. So while I can appreciate it, it didn't scartch the itch I was looking for. Was looking to be shaking in my boots, but the only thing shaking was make me queasy.

I'd still recommend the book though.

Final Score: 7/10

the main characters rly took the phrase “go piss girl” to a whole other level and that is all i will say on that. maybe this was a bit too abstract for me or maybe i just needed to be on psychadelics to rly grasp it. if u like queer surrealism horror-ish stuff (with lots of biology references) u may like this !

I don’t know how to feel.
The experience of reading this book was deeply unpleasant. For some reason though, I couldn’t abandon it. I had to know where things would go between the two girls. Their bizarre, consuming interaction was the most compelling aspect of the book.

I definitely didn’t enjoy myself, and I was glad when it was over, but the author did succeed at keeping me through to the end. The imagery is certainly evocative (for better or worse), and succeeded at provoking a physical response from my mycophobic ass.

Overall, I’m happy to move on and try not to think about this again, but I think this book is going to grow in my mind like a fungus. Because of that, I think the author succeeded in telling the kind of story she wanted to tell.

PS—if you can’t handle copious amounts of mold and piss, skip this one.

This is a weird book, and parts of it really activated some body horror for me, which is pretty unusual for me. It is a deeply descriptive book, but not a lot of plot things happen.
