More philosophical than comic books usually are (which made it palatable to me). Gaiman does a nice job of completely reimagining characters in a unique setting with a strong story.
I still find basically all superhero comics forgettable, so a 4 is as good as this was ever going to get.

Really enjoyed this! A fun alternative history for the marvel universe with a range of characters all cleverly integrated and ultimately a strong central storyline - dead glad I picked this one up!

This is actually a 3.5. It was good. I'm not super familiar with all the characters of the marvel universe but I got everything. I thought there idea was super interesting and I think Neil pulled it off well.

A clever and inventive retelling of the origins of the original Marvel characters in a world you would never imagine. I really dug the characterizations. The story was pretty good as well.
And Mr. Gaiman gave my Hank McCoy back! That alone is worth four stars.

Marvel 1602
I picked this up during Comixology's Black Friday sale in late 2018, intrigued somewhat by the premise: basically, transplanting 'modern' Marvel superheroes to the year 1602.
We thus have no Superhero costumes, but do have characters such as Peter Parker, Dr Strange, Magneto, Professor Xavier, Daredevil, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Black Widow, Nick Fury, etc all the same, yet subtly different - it just goes to show, really, how these characters are all archetypes!
I must admit, though, that (while the clues were there), I didn't see the identity of one character in particular coming until it was revealed in the final book of the series.

I enjoyed visiting these characters in such a different context. I enjoyed trying to figure out who’s who. Natasha being Doom’s mistress?! Didn’t see that one coming. Rojhaz as Steve was brilliant. A fun read.
