A Seed is Sleepy is a lovely nonfiction picture book. The words are in cursive, so it could be a tricky one for readers. I stuck to reading the large font and skipped over the smaller informational text.

Excellent children’s non-fiction about seeds. Poetic and informative with great illustrations.

A lovely book, full of interesting facts and connections and written, it seems to me, with a joy in the subject matter. With its strong images of seeds and shoots and flowers, this has something in common with Jackie Morris’ work in The Lost Words, but the more measured and scientific content makes this a different kind of read: a non-fiction text to intrigue and inform.

I really love all the information that's packed in here, but I wonder how the format of it connects with children. The cursive, the staggered pieces of sentences, the feminine style...

Another children's picture book. This one is a straight up science book all about seeds. And its actually fairly educational without being overly wordy. And it has really nice art. And it is all focused on seeds and doesn't get lost in a larger subject.

I picked up this book initially for its nature illustrations. Based on the length of the book, I quickly realized it's a children's book, but I pay that no mind. The botanical illustrations were beautiful, and the author and illustrators provided a lovely variety of seeds and plants within the book. I would expect this book to be appropriate for kids aged 6-10.

The drawings are beautiful. This would be a great way to start talking about the life of a seed.
