This was a free audiobook from Audible, so I thought I'd give it a listen. I'm not usually a fan of thriller/detective stories, and this was no exception. Granted, there wasn't much of an investigation at all. I probably would have enjoyed this more if I was familiar with D.D. to begin with, just to be with her a little bit in this important part of her life. All in all, this wasn't a horrible story, I just didn't find it to be terribly engaging. I suppose if I decide to read a detective novel, I might look into the first book of the series. It's on my radar and not any more than that.
FYI, 29 weeks is NOT a little over 7 months; it's closer to 6.5 months.

Super short and simple - nothing like the others - but baby Jack is here!

2.5/5 stars. While I realize this is a short story/novella, I feel a little ripped off. I thoroughly enjoyed the interplay between D.D. and Alex, but the rest of story was totally weightless. I finished it about 5 minutes ago, and right now I would really have to think to remember the names of any other characters or plot details. The most remarkable thing about this book is how unremarkable it actually is. I expect more from Gardner and was disappointed.

It's a novella that reminded me how much I like this series.
