Not everything needs to be a series! Just write a concise book. I didn't find this engaging, but I listened to it as an audiobook on a road trip.

It felt like a draft of a book. Or a college final project. Simple.

Good reads indeed

Current American events mixed into a fantasy dystopia. We have people considered worthless animals because they live on the other side of the wall. We have three person marriages where women are portrayed in a manner similar to The Handmaids Tale. And we have a rebellion and forbidden love to keep everything whirling along. I gotta say it was a really good read. I looked forward to getting back to reading. That hunger to read more is something I haven’t felt this strongly in.. 10-15 years.

cw: car accident, homophobia, murder, death, fire, torture, violence

this book was pretty enjoyable, i liked carmen and dani's relationship and kind of guessed the plot line, so it wasn't that mind blowing or exciting. it's still a really good read, the society portrays real world conflicts. i suspected carmen from the start though and wasn't really a fan of their enemies to lovers romance.
