I really wanted to like this book. But it definitely wasn't for me. It started out really good and caught my attention, but at about the halfway point, I realized that it wasn't at all what I thought it was.
This book is much less of a ghost story as it is a story about addiction. I can understand why people would enjoy this story, but it seemed to go all over the place (which I suppose is kind of what can happen with drug addiction) and never got to some of what I perceived to be main plots. 
Also, I love horror. But this type of horror made me physically nauseous.
Overall, I can understand the appeal, but it really wasn't for me.

I wanted to like this a lot more than I did. I think it portrayed drug addiction and toxic relationships really well. There were a couple reveals at the end that I didn't fully see coming but that were hinted well throughout the book.

This book had a fairly unique premise (although similar to the movie, Talk To Me - which I think came out after this book?). There was a lot of grotesque imagery and frightening situations but I felt like this book lacked a certain amount of suspense that I needed to make it truly great.

The gross bits in this book really grossed me out, BUT this was such a spooky and creative exploration of grief and addiction.

There are some extremely tense and gross scenes in this book. It's a great insight into the depths people will fall when they are in the grip of addiction. It's also a great twist on the haunted house genre.
