I absolutely loved the first two books of the trilogy. For this one, I fought the urge about 5000 times to DNF.
So little happens. It’s just endless, repetitive descriptions of Breen contemplating how her life has changed over the past year. There is hardly any chemistry between Keegan and Breen that I can appreciate. The entire storyline of the dark gods and big picture conflict takes backstage, with weirdly little action or suspense. It isn’t until the absolute very end that we see a semi-climactic resolution to any of it—and it’s incredibly uneventful and doesn’t even really make sense.
Boring. Such a bummer.

This one has a bit more action than the last two but it was quick and I didn’t really feel too much emotion going into or after the “final showdown”. It was just too slow of a trilogy for me - could have been done in one novel really. The romance also fell flat for me over the three books, so I wasn’t really interested in that plot line either.

- is it alcoholism or are they just irish?
- in a book series with dragon in the title, it’s a little crazy that the trolls get more attention (nothing against the trolls they were great)
- this is the most boring romance i have ever read
- this trilogy could have been a duology
- damn this writing is good, maybe that’s why i’m still reading
- all these characters are op as fuck
- this world building goes really hard
- i truly don’t understand how they defeated the villains
- one major character death does not a satisfying ending make
- yeah the writing is really really good

I was entertained lol. This series was such a fun read.

Actually this book kinda irks me the longer I sit with it because it felt like 70% of the book was a really slow buildup to a climax that wasn’t enough to pay off the tension. And then, we don’t get to see any of the follow up, like Marco’s wedding or Sedric’s funeral. It was a bit disappointing.
