A thrilling page-turner that I raced through, with a tight cast of characters. The ending, when it comes, is slightly disappointing and comes slightly after the actual climax.

This really takes you into the wild moors of Bodmin and into another time where people were rooted to the particular elements of their countryside. The only downside was that some of the chance meetings on the moor were quite unbelievable but the writing was so enjoyable overall that I could forgive this and brush it aside. Far from being a silly romance this is gothic and at times brutal.

Well, Rebecca is a masterpiece imo, but like my Grammy said, you can't go wrong with Miss du Maurier, and so far she's right!

Jamaica Inn... Set in the moors of Cornwall, England - an eerily perfect background for this throughly engrossing book. Gripped me right away and kept the pace the whole book, had me on the edge of my seat (actually in the bath until transformed into a cold prune)
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Worth it, loved this book, some minor like hmns about the main character (historical setting + naïve woman), but I get the romantic suspense aspect that was weaved in and I believe it all worked.

Gothic fiction, historical, psychological suspense and romance! Well written! I mean. Will def read more Daphne du Maurier.

What? I still can't get over the ending. How did that happen? Do not stay up all night reading this book, because I finished at one and then had to go to sleep and couldn't stop thinking about the ending. This book is amazing. I won't deny that it's sinister, but I loved it.
