Creepiest book I have ever read. Definitely not one for the easily scared or faint of heart. The whole Manson story is so bizarre and awful and this book really told the story in a way that made me have to keep putting it down but wanting to pick it back up. Be sure you're going to have someone spend the night if you scare easily!

Absolutely engrossing and wonderfully detailed from beginning to end, this book captures an already fascinating story and answers virtually all of your questions, leading you in with just the right amount of information and allowing you to follow along with the investigation in a unique and powerful way. Obviously Bugliosi was given an agenda from the very start, but the perspective is still reasonable and his prose allows for quick and entertaining reading. Go read it - you won't regret it.

Bugliosi does it agin! As a lawyer, Bigliosi is beyond impressive. It is interesting to read And the Sea Will Tell, where Vince is a defense attorney and then read Helter Skelter and see him as a prosecutor. The only criticism I can make about Helter Skelter is that at times it got confusing when the authors switched between aliases and true names. The story of Charles Manson is undeniably fascinating but with Bugliosi behind the narrative, Helter Sketer is a must read!

What a disturbing book. I read this a few years back one summer. It scared the crap out of me, after reading a few chapters everyday I was so afraid to fall asleep even with roommates in the apartment. Even now just thinking about the Tate murders or Manson's face gives me chills! This book is probably the reason why I get so paranoid in my own home late at night when I hear the littlest things.

Of all the crazy crimes and loony people that you hear of, there's nothing like the Manson family-they were beyond weird and this book lays out their story and how Charles Manson lured and brainwashed all those young runways into his world. You get to know about Manson's childhood and to some extent it helps you understand why he turned out the way he did, but even then it just amazes me how someone like him could exist, he's batshit crazy and so fascinating.

It's a long read but you wouldn't want the author to exclude anything. I became obsessed with this book, Bugliosi meticulously covers each crime and gives you a glimpse of what was happening in the late 60s in LA. One of my favorites.

Very, very detailed account about the murders by, and more importantly, the prosecution of, the Manson Family. I loved being taken step by step through the investigation and watching the case grow stronger and stronger. At times Bugliosli was tooting his own horn a lot, but as far as I'm concerned he deserves to brag.
