This was really uncomfortable to read, mostly because I think it did a good job in portraying toxic masculinity, locker room talk and all kinds of those haunting things in high school context. It was very unexpected the turns and actions of some characters when I started reading just for the fondness of groundhog day kind of plots. I won't rate this for now as I need time to digest and recover the nausea I had at some parts. The ending was really good and I felt like it did justice as best it could.

A groundhog day style storyline where main character James relives the anniversary of his mother's death on loop while learning secrets about his class mates and trying to change the day.
With sad and upsetting parts, more wholesome parts, and some very bare and honest parts, the book was a good mix of YA, coming of age, and sci fi/philosophy.

This book presents such a difficult topic so effectively, and it unravels in such a well-crafted way. An important book for both young adults and adults, whether you relate to the themes of the novel or not.

There’s also some beautiful discussion of death and grief, which added another layer to the novel and it’s characters.

A thought provoking and heart wrenching read, highly recommend.
