I feel like this could have been a 4 or even a 5 start book. The story line and world is there, But a few things spoiled it.
1. No one talks like that. It was very unrelatable. I found myself wishing for more details, rather than just "so cool" I needed just slightly less diary and a little more lit
2. I could instantly tell the author was not popular in school and was really trying to imagine what it would be like to be in this position, and just didn't nail it - sorry " mani pedis?" . I Cringed every time that got brought up.
3. The insta-love/obsession thing was too insta if that is even possible.

This reminded me of Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, and especially of Legacies. Crave feels better written than Twilight with characters that have more depth and feel more solid from the beginning. The rising power of the warring factions has me intrigued, and I hope it's explored more in later books. The idea of mates for vampires and the variety of supernatural creatures at Katmere Academy thrills me. I do wish the first book explored more of the school and the world as opposed to so much of Grace swooning over Jaxon, but his mysterious character drew me into her attraction. So much nonstop action caused me to finish the entire book in only 4 days, which for me is a testament to how gripping the story is.
