There seemed to be no organization or cohesiveness to the book. I would have like to have seen some context to some of the stories, a brief overview or background, something to tie them all together. Don't get me wrong, the stories were wonderful, sad, touching and inspiring. Everyone needs to read and glimpse into what some of our veterans have been through. I hope that them telling their stories help them in the healing process.

Each chapter is dedicated to telling the story of an individual’s experience in combat. Love hearing their challenges, their stories and their heroic acts. My only criticism is that I listened to the audiobook which was read by a man. He also read the chapters about women in combat, telling their unique experiences. It was confusing and strange having a male narrate those chapters.

There are some stories in here that make "Thank you for your service" seem small.

I really enjoyed this book. It highlights individuals stories of service in Afghanistan and Iraq without getting political.

So many stories from so many perspectives. I’ve always loved my country and those who choose to serve and hearing these stories has deepened that love. Just be prepared for the F word to be used as a comma throughout.
