Despite all of the trigger warnings I listed, I enjoyed this book. It is my first experience with French.
Well researched and a delight to read. French captures a place and a period in time and addresses issues with great sensitivity. All of the characters are well drawn. It is a love story about many different kinds of love; of how love can lift and enrich if one trusts it. The titular character is a delight. The dinner scene with Chummy had me laughing out loud.
