Important issues: religious prejudice (between catholics and protestants) and xenophobia in Glasgow.
But the story is not quite convincing. The reason given why Leanne could not visit her wounded boyfriend herself, was not very believable, in my opinion.

Enjoyed this book, read it as a lot of the upper primary classes in schools where I work have been reading it and I was curious. I actually learned a bit about football, as I know nothing about sports or the actual teams. It was nice how the story included real places near where I live, and made reference to real issues and events. Think I may pick up a copy for one of my brothers to read.

Brings light to the history of Glasgow and the Orange Walks.
A heartwarming story about two boys with very different beliefs. They are brought together by their love of Football and their desire to do what’s right by an asylum seeker.

I’m from Glasgow myself so I know first hand how true the base of the story is, it truly is a divided city and this book perfectly captures how divided it truly is. I highly recommend it, it tackles the problems with race, religion, and the issues with football. I’ve read this so many times.
