While not as exciting as the original trilogy, it did fill in all the little cracks.  I feel as if I'm prepared for The Black Bird Oracle.

Deborah Harkness blows me away, yet again. My only gripe is that the flashbacks don't really fit with the narrative that vampires don't like to discuss their past.

This was just ok. Which I believe is the consensus. The trilogy was epic and fantastic and vibey and adventurous. This installment was a bit slower paced focusing on our MC’s self purpose journey. I had moments where I was connecting with the characters and then I felt disconnected.

Welp, off to book 5..soon!!

I ended up reading book 4 after a break from the original three and actually enjoying it even though I wasn't sure I would.

It was interesting to hear about Marcus' past and the twins power and how they started to develop in this book.

Honestly I disliked Phoebes parts the most, they were relatively dull for me, but I think they were interesting to compare against Marcus beginnings.

I wouldn't say it was as good as the original trilogy, but I enjoyed it enough to start book 5 after.
