A pleasant light read, as usual. That said, too much time was devoted to the secondary romance, and the hero of that one was a huge jerk. James comes up with various excuses for his behavior and gives him a healthy dose of self-loathing, but there was just nowhere near enough groveling or punishment to make me feel like his redemption was at all plausible.

I really liked Josie's story - as a fellow generously-endowed woman it was easy to root for her as she battled nasty nicknames and terrible self-image issues. (Loved what happened to the "villain"of the piece). I do wish a little that Griselda's lovely story had been a separate novella to focus more on Josie and Mayne.

A very readable four-book series.

Josie is the last and youngest Essex sister and she has body image issues because she's a bigger girl, but because some modiste stuffed her into a ridiculous corset that made her look like a sausage, she was quickly given the moniker of the Scottish Sausage early in her debut.
The Earl of Mayne(who's been engaged to one sister, coveted by another and wanted for an affair by the third one) has been asked to keep an eye on Josie and help her if he can. He convinces her to stop wearing the evil corset and teaches her how to walk which was really quite funny, but he is in love with his beautiful French fiancée, so even though he gives Josie her first kiss, he is not an option.
This is followed by various hijinks and one physical attack then a marriage of convenience, all in all an entertaining read.

I couldn't resist reading another book by James. It was nice to be in a place where the biggest worry was whom to marry. Yes, I know that is a big worry, but compared to COVID-19, I would take that concern.

a rather tame historical romance, but still enjoyable. I agreed with other reviewers the Grissie subplot was VERY unnecessary and just distracting (why not make that it's separate book?). I also agree w others that all the real action happens in the last quarter. I would have liked a marriage earlier with a breakdown of relations. Also agree that who TF wrote that blurb because I was like "wait, is this the right book??"

Part 4 of the Four Sisters series which I have been greatly enjoying over the last few months. The story is about Josie, the youngest sister of 4 scottish girls who have taken London society by storm. She is plauged by the fact that she has a rounder body than the rest.

The pairing in this took me by total surprise as her eventual husband, Garrett Mayne has been present all throughout the series and I would not have picked him as her match. Ms. James entwining of both her series always makes me sit down to try and remember the characters but it's a fun fun journey.

Great for an afternoon's read even though I found the ending somewhat ludicrous.
