What a fantastic book.  The author's reflections on her own body and life are personal, yet so many of the thoughts could be what any of us think.  While I'm not a huge fan of personal essays or memoirs, this one touched me.

C'est dur, intense, désagréable et pourtant si percutant, si essentiel. Les sujets sont incroyablement difficiles mais ce court récit à la première personne dit tellement de choses sur des maltraitances bien trop universelles.

Walking this world as a fat woman has definitely been a challenge for me and even though we live so far away from eachother and come from different societies and cultures, I felt seen through her words. Roxane Gay talks about everything so many people feel but are afraid to even talk about. I felt her pain in every page and at the end saw how she has tried to heal her wounds. Glad I finally read this I could finish it a lot sooner if I had the time, you fall into her world in the first page and it's so hard to stop reading because the way she writes is unique but at the same time very simple and pleasent. Give it a try, even if you haven't walked a similar paths you will be able to put yourself in her shoes at the end.
