If I could describe Parallel in one word it would have to be gripping. I read the complete book in one sitting.

I did have a hard time following the concept of “traveling”. You see, the book centers around the idea of parallel universes; Etta learns that she was hidden in an alternate universe for her own protection. She is then brought back to her original dimension. But nobody knew she was missing for years. Are you confused? I was too. Then, Lefeve added in the concept of time travel to the mix and I was completely lost.

The thing is, I really enjoyed the storyline. It was incredibly creative and I really wanted to be able to grasp everything that was happening. I am going to have to go back and reread it at some point; I feel like this is the sort of book you will never quite understand the first time around.
Etta was likable enough, but still did not really stand out to me. Lefeve has created an interesting enough base for Etta and I am hoping that she will really blossom in the next storyline. In Parallel, Lefeve is able to do some character building, but the main focus is setting up the world. Well, worlds. It’s a lot to take in and unfortunately, it causes the characters to fall a bit flat.

However, they all have a great deal of potential. I am particularly interested in the relationship between Cooper and Etta. There is a twist involving the pair at the end that is sure to surprise readers. I did see it coming, but now I am left with each more questions.

To be perfectly honest with you, I really enjoyed Parallel. Yes, I have about a gazillion questions, but hopefully they will be answered in book two. My only complaints are that the characters were a bit flat and the ending isn’t really much of an ending. I felt like it should have kept going; I did not get much closure at all. Things were just picking up and then Lefeve hit me with the dreaded “to be continued…”. But, in the grand scheme of things, Parallel was exciting, creative and thought provoking. I would not call it a light-read (my mind is still reeling), but it was certainly enjoyable!

I didn't like it. The author didn't really care about the reader as they left them in a perpetual state of confusion trying to "surprise them" with all their "twists". I thought the character was annoying and the book hard to invest in.

luckily it was free on ibooks because it was horrible. the idea could have been great but the editor missed a lot of mistakes and it was jumping all over the place.

The book was slow for my taste. It felt short as well. But it was good. I liked the idea of parallel realities and got me thinking how other worlds would be if this was even possible.

I was not expecting the ending and I'm looking forward to the next book.

This was a freebie e book. I went ahead and got the whisper snyc for it so I had something to do while I was driving or cooking. This is the first book of a series. It kept my attention enough that I am willing to continue on. The only thing I didn't like was the arupt ending.

the whole trend that authors have now of not creating a full story in a book now is maddening. I get that they want to make money but you're killing your fan base. nothing even happens in this book besides world building. there was no climax. if you want to have this huge creative world make your book longer actually add some useful drama into it. not oh he drugged me and tied me up. but with a quick call I'm free and found my dad. happy ending.

Well, it wasn't amazing, but I really enjoyed the storyline :)
Etta annoyed me, as did pretty much all the characters, but who am I to complain?

OMG! What was that!!
This book is so different that it is wicked! My brain had to keep refocusing on different realities and keep putting things into order. Working through the storyline and making sense of the journey was just the type of change I needed to read. I love paranormal stories and this was just refreshing. Amazing writing, amazing world building and characters that were strong, real and relatable. Definitely checking out the rest of the series.

Etta has always had experiences she realised she had caused by not sure how they have happened. After years of moving about between foster homes she is finally send to the Dominion House for Girls where she is reunited with an old friend, Jamie. It is on a rare trip out with her she meets Cooper. However Jamie has concerns about Etta talking to this strange boy which turns out to be right when she get into the car with him and he reveals he wants to take her back to her rightful world.

In this new world Etta has to get use to the strange similarities to her old life. Jamie is still in her life and she finally has family. It isn’t all as lovely as it seems though. She has feelings for Cooper but she feels he his hiding something and she also has the task of trying to find out what happened to her father. However all these questions are answered after an eventful sleep over with Jamie.

I struggled to enjoy this book. It has some potential and I am sure plenty of people may enjoy it but I found it lacking in pace. I also felt it was quite girly, talking about boys quite a lot but it is good that a topic such as parallel world travel can be written about in a way that is not just science fiction dominated by could be enjoyed by people who like more light hearted books.
