For the most of the read I felt like it was written for teenagers but the plot at the end is unexecpted. Like the last page was so worth it

This book is - in a word - ick. I would not recommend this book to anyone, honestly. The writing was cringey for about half of the book; McFadden does not know how to write in the voice of a teenager. Much of the chapters written from Addie’s perspective sounded like Junie B. Jones wrote them.

Here’s where the spoilers are: although the author-written summary doesn’t reveal anything, this book has numerous “relationships” between high school students and grown adults (their teachers). McFadden made sure to include a couple of sentences about how it’s the adults’ faults, not the children’s. Then she goes right back to glorifying these predators.

I would not recommend this book. At all.

Not sure the allure of this author. Very predictable and so much ICK.

Predictable from the summary, but not badly written so an easy read.

The Hudson reveal at the end raises questions that didn't need to be raised - so did Eve know he was a student? Why'd she sound like she thought he had a wife/kid? Why did a high school kid have keys to a store? It also just made her ick and ruined that epilogue as it wasn't needed.

Aside from uncomfortable content matter (a given, with the title, but still), that final twist at the ending just doesn't work. It surprised me when I heard it, but the more I thought about it, the more it didn't make sense.
