This train wreck has left me so confused and annoyed.
How did "John's" classmates not realize he was from France? Did he hide his French accent and speak with an American accent?
I didn't know that France had ranches. Maybe they do, but I'm just a clueless American.
What part of the 20th century does this take place? We have cars and jazz music, but the speech and talk about marrying for money aren't modern. Not to mention Aurora's "timepiece".
How is Aurora an orphan if her father is alive?
France did away with kings during the Revolution. And the last monarch was gone by 1870. Marseille wouldn't have had it's own king.
At least once I caught the wrong character saying something instead of the correct one.
The romance was cold, lacking. It felt forced.
The dialog was weird.
If this was from the early decades of the 20th century Aurora wouldn't have been going on a "date" with John unchaparoned or allowed to sneak off with some random guy.
I felt like I was reading a badly written fanfic or a middle schooler's failed attempt at a creative writing assignment.
In all I found this story rushed, not well researched and just lacking. No wonder it's free on Amazon.
