Eleanor Oliphant is a heroine like no other. Awkward, obsessional and solitary, she hides a tragic family secret. Her real feelings are obscured by vodka, or escape into pathetic fantasy. But slowly things change, and we see Eleanor emerge from her empty existance. But with living comes risk and pain, and Eleanor must decide if she is willing to look at her past to ensure her future. This is a warm, tragi-comic book with a delightful protagonist who I wish was my friend too!

Mind the content warnings on this novel. It feels lighthearted throughout, with snippets of darker undertones peeking out. Eleanor has her quirks, but she grows on you fast.
Graphic: Addiction, Alcoholism, Suicidal thoughts, Suicide attempt, and Alcohol
Moderate: Child abuse, Death, Panic attacks/disorders, and Fire/Fire injury
Minor: Child death, Sexual assault, Death of parent, and Sexual harassment

A young woman who experienced quite a traumatic childhood stumbles through life. Until she and a coworker assist an elderly man in need of medical care.
Eleanor exists in a fantasy life to help cope with her life experiences as well as her loneliness. She has no real attachments, lacks knowledge of social interactions - suddenly she has a friend.
I can absolutely relate to this woman.
Humor. Awkward. Reality.
