I love this book. The silliness and fun with the wizards and other characters is so amusing
It takes place a year after the first book. A new wizard menace has happened and Kazul is missing. The King of the Enchanted Forest finds Cimorene as well as Morwen. Their high jinks are exceedingly hilarious!

im a little sad they got married in the end. i understand that its a middle school series tho and that the plot cannot hold as much as i wish it to, but even if they had just last minute eloped or did something super 'not proper' about the wedding that wouldve been better. bc to me it feels like cimorine getting married traditionally like this is just.... conforming and being proper... they hardly even protested against all the 'properness' that everyone else expected of their wedding to be. but cest le vie, still a good story

I think my only problem with this one was that, considering Cimorene’s personality and the entire point behind book one, it’s kinda weird how she was just okay with Mendanbar declaring his love for her and proposing to her after knowing her for like two weeks especially since there wasn’t much effort put into specifically building their friendship let alone romance in this book the way that time was put into developing Cimorene and Kazul’s friendship in book one.

These characters are so fun and the writing is great, but it was just a bit too slow for my taste. I seriously think I would have loved this as a kid though!

It felt as if the prince was the lead in this book. Overall, it was alright, and I definitely prefer the first one. As for Mendelbaar and Cimorene's relationship, it felt like it just randomly happened? Like cimorene never even showed she liked him in that way, to me at least.

The most consistent thing between this fantasy world and real life is that the defining trait of cats there is that they do things that don't make sense just because they feel like it and everyone goes "Yep, that's a normal cat thing to do," 10/10 cat representation
