I don’t know why I can never warm up to Kiersten White’s version of my favourite universes. I didn’t love her Slayer book and I’m not a huge fan of this either.

I love Obi-Wan. He’s one of my all time favourite characters in Star Wars. And this book isn’t bad. But it just… doesn’t feel like him? I know it’s YA and he’s younger, but even the YA version of Leia felt like her. This version of Obi-Wan feels very much like a 13 year old having an existential crisis, interspersed with details that remind you who he is.

I didn’t hate it. There were even moments when I strongly related to Obi-Wan’s thoughts and feelings. And I love that we get a semi-confirmation that he’s bi ( 😏 ). But I guess I wanted more. This actually feels like a younger version of Master and Apprentice, without Qui-Gon. And I liked M&A a lot more.

I loved this! I was hesitant to read it because it's YA, but I loved it. Maybe I just love Obi-Wan, but whatever.

I really enjoyed the characterization of Obi-Wan in this book, and the plot in general was interesting! Unfortunately, I didn't get very attached to the extend cast and the fast-pace/writing style just didn't appeal to me. Honestly felt more like a middle reader book than a YA from how it was written.
