I picked this up because of the pretty cover, from the blurb it seemed to have everything one would want - a blend of fantasy and historical fiction, add in an immortal dog - what is there not to like?

Simple plot - immortal dog separated from his human (also immortal), waits years for him in the hope he returns to the place they got separated and reminisces about their time together.

Middle of the road read, it was ok but it didn’t wow me. This would make a good film with great costumes, and settings which I might enjoy more. That said, it was a nice tale of friendship and loyalty. 3 stars.

I recommend this to anyone that enjoyed a dogs purpose.

Sweet but tedious. Descriptive but plot moves so very slowly. Could not drag myself to the end.

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH. It is told from the point of view of a dog, which you don't often see in adult fiction. It's absolutely brilliantly done.

The dog is not physically described. Some fantasy, magic.

3.5 actually score. The start of the book I was hovering around a 2, the end a 4 so we meet in the middle!

I did enjoy the book there were just times I felt it was a little too slow moving. I was worried when I saw people saying if you enjoy the night circus you’ll like this, as I did not enjoy that book.

I think it is an unfair comparison as this book actually has a plot! Tomorrow is a wonderful character as are all the cast of the book. Porco especially was a personal favourite.

The ending few chapters I thought were wonderful and really hit a cord with me.

Overall it is a good read, I just found some parts dragged a little but all the beats of the story hit well.
