This is an excellent supplementary bio for people reading Anne's diary to also read. The illustrations work well to place the history and context of what was happening. Also it's impossible to escape the horror of what happened with illustrations to accompany the timeline. An important addition to the Anne Frank cannon.

When this book came across my desk I had reservations. A graphic novel biography of Anne Frank...really?
But it was wonderfully done. Sensitive and full of information I had not previously known. I would think that it may draw more people to Anne's story, people who would not read her actual diary and that can only be a good thing.

Very good read, but probably would have been best not to have read it the very same day that the Ukraine-Russian war began. Or perhaps now is precisely the right time to read about such a bleak history: so that we can prevent it from happening all over again.

* I appreciated that they included important key points of the war both during the story and as a post-note timeline. It wasn't purely a graphic novel adaptation of her book, but of her early life and death, as well (this is pretty obvious considering the title, but for some reason that didn't get through to me at the time).

* it would've been nice if at least one of the short stories she wrote had been included, since she dreamed of being famous for her writing

A heartbreaking and famous story.

Well, yeah, it's very *worthy*, and no doubt good for kids in an educational sense, but objectively speaking it's a pretty terrible graphic novel. Awful artwork and rather ineptly told. I'll pass it on to my son to read nevertheless. Ten-year-olds are a bit less discerning about the finer points...

This is the second graphic novel I've read based on Anne Frank's life and her diary. This one has been authorized by The Anne Frank House and follows the diary closely while also exploring what her life might have looked like after being discovered in the Secret Annex. It was straightforward and a good option for people who may be intimidated by reading her full diary.

This book had me hooked since I read it in one sitting. I have already read Anne Frank’s diary but I didn’t know what happened before or after and I loved the format of this graphic novel like the snapshots and all the artwork. This was so so good and I loved learning about what exactly happened after they got arrested. Rip Anne Frank.
